Hello. I’m here again for your help! We have done this before and your contributions made a HUGE difference. This cause is very dear to my heart because it’s for my half sister, Kari.
The Dunn Family has had a stream of bad luck, but we use our humor to get through. We are survivors…. This is why I will use my humor throughout this post.
Without getting into the gross pictures (only I love that stuff), here is the short version of why we got here.
My sister has been a single mother (warrior) trying to take care of her two children. One child is severely handicapped and will be in her care the rest of his life. She’s always putting the kids first and never complains!
Kari bought a car and was driving her kids to school. An oncoming driver took a turn too wide (he said the sun was in his eyes) and hit her and the kids on the driver’s side…Kari’s RT arm was broke in two places (which never healed and she needed pins to fix) and they all acquired other injuries… The driver who caused the accident was UNINSURED! Fast forward, she is responsible for all her medical bills and will get no compensation. Her car was totaled and got very little for it. She spent several months without a car just “trying to save for that car” which then got totaled.
Try taking care of two children and yourself with a broken arm? I had no words when I heard this.
Just when you thought it couldn’t worse, Sumas, WA had a flash flood which destroyed the apartment complex in which she is living. Water and sludge filled her entire apartment. They lost everything!!! Mattresses and everything that we take for granted.
The complex and entire area is destroyed and uninhabitable. All residents were asked to leave and they left…. Kari and the kids are the last to stay because they can’t find housing anywhere close. I looked and housing is available 90 miles away… Point is, this is a situation she should not be in with children or without a vehicle.
Kari is trying to take care of everything herself and has never asked for my help. I’m heartbroken knowing she is fighting all of this alone and I’m in IL.
We are down to the wire because the Sheriff will be there on Wednesday to evict them. I don’t want her to have to deal with that like she’s a criminal! Please help in anyway you can so she can leave their on her terms and with dignity. My nephews don’t need to see this. My heart goes out to her and I pray one day we can laugh at this BS!
Thank you with all of my heart! This is exactly why I’ve said family shouldn’t be in “different states”!
When shit hits the fan, we are not able to help quickly.
P.S. I mentioned she is “single”, but that’s not the type of help she needs right now.
I love you Kari and we can weather any storm! Keep fighting! You got this sister! OXOX
