My sister, Sidney
Hi everyone, Its Lucas.
My sister and I are best friends, we are each other's closest family member. Together, we are complete.
We have suddenly been separated- I am still here in my body on earth, and I don’t know where she has passed on to- but ya girl better be feeling all the love coming her way. Healing her.
I used to think it was crazy that she didn’t “have a job”, and I even got annoyed sometimes when she’d ask me to take a day off work so we can get together. But now I finally see, that she had many jobs, perhaps the most outstanding was her ability to gather people together. Sidney is a gatherer! She would gather us for meals- she would make the best food i’ve ever had! Every dish balanced perfectly in taste, texture, and temperature. She’d gather us for camping trips and dance parties and she’d always be the last one awake with me- we’d slowly settle down into the calm of the night, before going to sleep.
She continues to gather us.
This fundraiser, however unreal it feels to write, is to help my mom and I pay for travel costs that would otherwise put us into debt. We will be travelling a lot in the coming month for Sidney’s gatherings, her celebrations, which these funds will also help pay for. I’ll keep y’all informed on when and where we’ll be meeting for these celebrations. I know there will be a small one in North Dakota, one in upstate New York, and one in California. Even if GoFundMe’s “goal” isn’t met, everything helps, and its ok if it comes in different ways. Sidney valued the more natural, human ways of exchange that allow us to support each other in ways that money cannot.
Thank you Sidney for your valuable teachings. Thank you everyone for your love. I am SO bummed we are all in this situation… but remember that we all have each other, and community is all we really need in this world.
