Dear friends,

My sister, Angélica, was in a horrible accident this weekend near her home in Uruguay when a car suddenly stopped in front of her, causing her to crash. She was on a scooter and was thrown, face-first, into the rear window of the car in front of her. Her face was severely cut and she lost her front teeth. Her right ankle and left arm were broken as well. We are extremely grateful that she survived the accident, but she now has a long recovery ahead of her and needs help. The doctors tell her she needs three major surgeries to reattach the ligaments in her arm and ankle, and surgeries to repair her face and replace her teeth. Angélica lives a very humble life and does not have insurance to cover this kind of care. She is a single mom to two kids and will be unable to work for several months. I am obviously very worried about my sister and her children, and so I am reaching out to my community to ask for your help. If you are in a position to contribute any amount to Angélica's medical expenses and to support for her and her kids over the next several months, my family and I would be deeply grateful.

Mi hermana, Angélica, tuvo un horrible accidente este fin de semana cerca de su casa en Uruguay cuando un automóvil se detuvo repentinamente frente a ella y la hizo chocar. Ella estaba en un scooter y fue arrojada, de cara, contra la ventana trasera del auto que tenía enfrente. Su rostro estaba severamente cortado y perdió sus dientes frontales. Su tobillo derecho y su brazo izquierdo también estaban rotos. Mi familia y yo nos sentimos muy afortunados de que ella y su hijo hayan sobrevivido al accidente, pero ahora tiene una larga recuperación por delante y necesita ayuda. Los médicos le dicen que necesita tres cirugías importantes para reparar los ligamentos en su brazo y tobillo, y cirugías para reparar su cara y reemplazar sus dientes. Angélica vive una vida muy humilde y no tiene un seguro que cubra este tipo de cuidados. Ella es madre soltera de dos hijos y no podrá trabajar durante varios meses. Obviamente estoy muy preocupado por mi hermana y sus hijos, por lo que me acerco a mi comunidad para pedir su ayuda. Si estás en condiciones de contribuir con alguna cantidad a los gastos médicos de Angélica y para apoyarla a ella y a sus hijos durante los próximos meses, mi familia y yo estaríamos profundamente agradecidos.
