http://bronx.news12.com/story/37239461/morrisania-woman-says-shes-fed-up-with-deplorable-conditions On January 7th, 2018 her 25th birthday, my big sister Kalifa Williams slipped on black ice in front of her building and broke two bones, dislocated her ankle and tore her ligament.  As if that wasn't enough to deal with Kalifa also had on - going issues with her landlord and even appeared on Bronx 12 News regarding the negligent conditions of her apartment. (See link above) She really felt as though her world was crashing down around her. On the day of her accident  Kalifa went to Lincoln hospital where doctors bandaged her leg and sent her home with a prescription for Percocet and told her to return in three days to prep for surgery. No blood thinners were prescribed. When she returned three days later instead of being admitted she was turned away because the hospital did not accept her insurance. Kalifa returned home a second time from the hospital and began her own search for a hospital that would accept her insurance. She finally found Mountifiore hospital and her surgery was scheduled for January 24th, 2018. When mountifiore followed up with Lincoln hospital regarding Kalifa's care, again no blood thinners were prescribed. On Monday January 22nd two days before her scheduled surgery, my sister was rushed to the emergency room at Lincoln hospital where doctors were unable to revive her and it was at that time that Kalifa earned her angel wings. The autopsy results state cause of death as "accidental."  My sister Kalifa leaves behind our grieving mother, me her little sister, her beautiful four year old daughter Ki'yann and countless family and friends who are all devastated.  Because Kalifa outlived her insurance (policy) the money that was there to help out in times like this is now lost to us, and because the hospital has given us a short deadline to remove her from the hospital we as a family humbly seek your financial support during this very difficult time.  Any amount you can donate along with your support and prayers will be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU ALL.
