My sister-in-law Rachel was in a plane crash

My sister in law Rachel has spent the last year and a half studying to become a pilot, she loves anything to do with aviation and recently obtained her commercial pilots license after a lot of hard work and study.

On June 23rd while visiting Colorado, Rachel and three friends were flying through the black canyon following the river. When ready to leave the canyon Rachel turned toward the left which looked to be a wide path and the best way to get out vs following the river to the right which was a more narrow flight path.

The canyon rose very steep ahead of them and due to the high-density altitude and the weight of the plane they weren't climbing out of the canyon at the rate expected. It became clear that the plane was about to stall. Rachel quickly tried to recover from the stall which would have taken away any control of the plane and caused it to barrel into the ground. They had almost made it out of the canyon despite the near stall when a ridge with tall trees caught the plane and it ignited which lead to Rachel crash-landing the plane.

The crash happened just feet away from Colorado 92 and a hunter who had stopped by the road saw the whole thing unfold and was able to call for help right away. All four were flown out to nearby hospitals and miraculously survived.

Rachel sustained significant second and third degree burns on her face, arms and legs. She is being treated at the Denver University hospital and has a long road of recovery ahead of her.
