Hi, my name is Alexis Irby, and my mom is Tammy Fortune. My mom is turning 60 this month and is a single parent. Anyone that knows my mom would describe her as the kindest, most positive, selfless, and thoughtful person they have met. It has been very hard for all of us to see such an amazing human being struggle as much as she has. For a few years, we shared a one-bedroom apartment and her bedroom was the living room. She worked multiple jobs at a time for 12 years to put food on the table and a roof over our heads.
Her health got very bad about three years ago. The many health issues she has made her unable to work. She was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 6 years ago, has chronic insomnia which she won't sleep for days, and arthritis. She also needs back surgery due to her degenerative disc disease, stenosis and multiple bulging discs. She also has a torn meniscus in her left knee from a few bad falls. Unfortunately, all of this causes her not to be able to stand for long periods and she is always in constant pain. On top of all this, she was on disability and has been dealing with her doctor retiring which stopped her disability pay. She has been struggling financially for a long time now but was at least able to pay her rent, and now that she isn't getting disability pay she can't even do that. She is looking constantly for remote jobs but has had no luck. I am only 21 years old and am doing my best to help her, but I can only do so much at this age.
It would mean the world to my mom and me if you donated anything to help her get back on her feet. The funds will be used to help her find a roommate and pay her rent and save up for her surgery. My fear is for her to go homeless and of course, she can stay at my place, but living on a small couch is not ideal. It feels like there is no way to get out of this hole she's in but we are trying our best to stay positive during these tough times.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my mom's story.
Anything helps, if you can share this go fund me that would be amazing.
