My Service Puppy Fund

On August 8th, 2023 Judah passed away unexpectedly from cancer. As many of you know he was my service dog, who assisted in many ways, ex. goes to doctor's appointments or going to class with me (when I was finishing my undergrad degree). In his short life of (almost 13 yrs) he had done a lot of travel, ex. Buffalo, Colorado and Washington DC (annual conference). Judah makes my life much easier when sometimes it's chaotic and scary.

Working in the field of disability its both professional and personal for me. My disability (Asperger's Syndrome) allows me to advocate and teach others about disability or more specifically autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Having Judah with me I have learned to think differently about accessibility.

The following is from a friend who described our relationship so beautifully:

  • "The two of you have been great ambassadors of the breed with his service dog "work" and your advocacy for disability. RIP good boy, you have made a difference. ❤️"

The service puppy fund I am creating to help with expenses for a new puppy (Ex. training, medical expenses, supplies, food). Having a new puppy is good for the soul, heart and mind but having a great service dog is worth beyond anything imaginable. Lots of people have at least 1 dog in their life and we all know dogs gives us unconditional love. However, the bond between a service dog and it's handler/owner/trainer is very deep and unbreakable. Service dogs provide you with security, safety, unconditional love and more as they have been trained to help with specific needs.
