My Service Dog Cloud Needs Emergency Spine Surgery

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart because my dog, my baby, needs urgent help.

His name is Cloud, he’s an 8-year-old Shih Tzu and has been my best friend and family since he was a month old. On Thursday- April 10th, he was diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), and the vets have told me he needs surgery as soon as possible. Without it, he could lose his ability to walk and be paralyzed for life. He is a psychiatric service dog, and he is a very good boy.

The surgery is scheduled for Monday- April 14th, and the estimate is $15,000 just for the MRI and the procedure. I’ve already spent around $3,000 on emergency room visits, tests, and consultations over the past few days, and unfortunately, my pet insurance won’t cover most of the upcoming costs. I don’t know yet how much aftercare, medications, or follow-up visits will add up to, but I know it won’t be easy.

I hate asking for help, but I’m doing this for Cloud. If you’re able to contribute anything at all — no amount is too small — it would mean the world to him. And even if you can't donate, sharing this with others who might be able to help would make a huge difference.

I spoke to the hospital and they said people can help me with the surgery bill. The account number is 439678 for Cloud at MSPCA - Angell Animal Medical Center .

I got the surgery done at MSPCA instead as its a bit more affordable than the previous hospital and I am trying for a financial aid there as well.
