My rent, arrears, and utilities
Donation protected
I had to leave my last job 3+ years ago for health reasons, and have been looking for a new one for the last 2 years with increasing ferocity, but nothing. Last week, down to my last $100 in the bank, I got an interview (2nd one this year) at last, but it fizzled.
Then this Monday I tried to poison myself with hemlock (Conium maculatum) .The East Bay hills are full of it. The good news is that now I know I can do it, and I know it was the right plant because I had the symptoms; the bad news is that I would need a good deal more of it, or maybe eat it raw instead of making a drink as all the folk tales were telling me.
Anyway, I couldn't pay my rent & utils this month and so I already owe $200 more, to the tune of some $1450. I have been on the streets before (believe me even though I'm a techie) but I was much younger then, I know now, at 55, I wouldn't survive. And I have nowhere else to go (no close family etc.) If you know of an opening for an aging software engineer, let me know 8-) My resume is here . But clearly, I need to pay the rent ASAP, regardless.
You may be interested to see my blog and pictures (mostly wildflowers lately).
