Spende geschützt
On June 5th, I had to take my mom to the ER in Cookeville due to shortness of breath and pain in her right side. When we arrived, her oxygen levels were very low, barely in the 80s. She was immediately admitted and diagnosed with pneumonia, and IV antibiotics were started right away.
What we didn’t know at the time was that her right lung and kidney were filled with abscesses—pockets of serious infection. And she was extremely septic. Doctors placed a chest tube, which drained almost 3 liters of thick fluid and infection. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough. The infection was worse than they thought.
Mom ended up needing surgery: a thoracotomy, decortication, and bronchoscopy. Surgeons had to remove a large amount of infected tissue and a small part of her lung. The recovery from this kind of surgery will be very painful and long. She’ll be needing extensive rehab, home health care, and long-term antibiotics when she’s finally able to come home. As many of you know, my mom is the only income provider for my parents. My dad is unable to work due to his own health issues, he suffers from lupus. Right now, Mom has already been out of work for over 2 weeks, and she’s expected to be out for at least another month or more. While she’ll receive some short-term disability pay, it won’t be nearly enough to cover their monthly bills, let alone the medical expenses piling up. I’m starting this GoFundMe to help my parents stay afloat during this incredibly difficult time. My goal is to help them, cover monthly living expenses while Mom is unable to work, pay hospital bills, ensure Dad can stay home to care for Mom without risking his own health. If you’re able to donate, even a little, we would be so grateful. If you’re not in a position to give financially, please send prayers, for healing, for strength, for a smooth and speedy recovery, and for safe travels as we go back and forth to the hospital.
Thank you all for the love and support. It means the world to our family
