Hi everyone
Steven (Woody) here, our family has had some very bad news and we have found out that both my parents have been diagnosed with cancer at the same time.
My mum (Margaret) has been diagnosed with Leukemia and has spent the last 45 days in the hospital receiving treatment. This isn’t the first time, as many of you know, she won her fight to cancer two years ago (Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma) but unfortunately, she now has to start the battle all over again – this time against Leukemia and will need treatment for the next 4 months minimum leaving her unable to work.
At the same time, my dad (Deane) has been told they have found cancer in his lymph nodes and has surgery coming up to remove them, then will undergo radiation treatment over the coming months. This will put him out of work also while he fights to beat this cancer and care for my mum.
With both my parents out of work, I have started this page to try to generate some funds to help alleviate some of the stress around finances to cover bills and mortgage payments. If I can help them relieve the financial strain, they can concentrate on getting better.
I’m doing all I can to support and care for them both, and have left Melbourne and flown to New Zealand for the next few months to help my sister balance caring for my parents and her two boys. The first time Mum was diagnosed it was during COVID and I was unable to fly out to be with them, so I’m grateful I’m able to be here to help.
My parents always put friends and family before themselves.
Now, it's my time to step up and repay that favor and hopefully, with mine and your support, we can help ease their mind during these very challenging times knowing all bills and payments will be taken care of, so they can focus on getting well and spending time together.
Anything you can donate will be genuinely appreciated. Anything we can raise together will be so helpful and help mum and dad focus on their upcoming treatments and recovery.
Any support would be much appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Thanks so much!
Steven Westwood (Woody)
