My Papa Dante's Wish

My family and I recently moved here to the US from Canada to pursue my dream of being a practicing nurse. With this move came some challenges. One is that I have now become the sole breadwinner for my family of 4 as my working visa does not permit my husband to seek employment.

Last July 1, 2022, we discovered that my father has advanced Pancreatic Cancer (Stage 4), which has now spread to his liver and aorta. Sorrowful and worried every day of my life since then, I long to spend time with my dad and be able to hug and tell him how much I love him. His wish is to see us, his grandchildren, and his whole family one last time before he succumbs to this disease.

I am sending money home to whatever I am earning for his chemotherapy, medications, laboratory and imagining tests and monthly needs (house bills, food). Also, taking overtime shifts to pay for the cemetery lot cost 1.3million in philippine pesos. Lastly, I have a stepbrother attending college and donating money to pay for his tuition. All these expenses are overwhelming.

We need the extra funds to buy airfare and expenses for my family to get home to the Philippines. The airfare would cost $1,900+ each, and it takes a while to save. My dad's condition is deteriorating, and there is not enough time for me to hold. Since he is alive, we must return to the Philippines as soon as possible. That is why I am seeking your help in granting my father's wish by asking you to donate to our cause in whatever comes from your heart.
