There’s only one way to tell your dad you’re a pornstar. Right?
Del’s having the old-fashioned bi-annual dinner with her father, whom she basically never sees. She has a dirty little secret. He’s about to find out.
More about the film…
It’s a coming-of-age; it’s a generational gap; it’s the online world.
My Only Fan is a comedic exploration of emotional and physical intimacy following Del, and Paul, father and daughter, both coming to terms with their own sensitivity to each other through this pivotal moment. This duality, taking place in the same room, at the same table, builds a tension that holds the film at its center. The story, absurdist and dramatic, explores the claustrophobic nature of wearied familial relationships and the gendered dynamics of a father-daughter bond. We will follow this intimate intention as we move with Del through a state of sheer panic, and the staging will give us access to all of it: every drop of sweat, every heartbeat.
Embracing a queered & feminist gaze as a core element of our creative approach, we have constituted a talented women-led team, with the clear incentive to frame themes related to sex work, intimacy, and femininity through a new lens, hopefully presenting a fresh take on the genre.
Diverse references, in tone and style, inspired our creative approach, from Little Miss Sunshine (V. Faris and J. Dayton, 2006), Shiva Baby (Emma Seligman, 2020), and Lady Bird (Greta Gerwig, 2017) to The Royal Tenenbaums (Wes Anderson, 2001).

WRITER & DIRECTOR’S NOTE - Suzie Fouilhac
I grew up in a small French town, then moved to Paris to pursue a career in the arts and graduated with a BA in Film Studies. I have now been living in Ireland for the last two years, and recently graduated with an MA in Screen and Stage writing from UCD. Emigrating to Ireland has been a shifting experience for me. Moving away from home and the people who inhabit it while navigating my early twenties, and the sense of disconnection from family, were feelings that inspired the story and the generational divide between the two main characters. It has always been very important to me that my first project as a writer and director would convey my core values, and my everlasting passion for comedy as a vector of depth and study of social topics that I strongly care about. Drawing inspiration from crumbs of life through an absurdist lens, I want to frame an illustration of femininity, gender expression, and adulthood.
PRODUCER'S NOTE - Isabel O'Farrell
I’m delighted to play a role in bringing My Only Fan to life as the Producer of this beautifully crafted story. I became attached to My Only Fan at a turning point in my life, as a recent graduate who was nervous but excited to start work in the film industry. Now, I’m working as an Executive Assistant at a renowned Irish film production company, and hope to use my experience and skills to bring this story from the page to the screen. I’m confident that My Only Fan will connect with many people, whether they recognise the generational divide or the silent power of grief.
