My Niece with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS)

My name is Faith, and I am a 21-year-old living in the UK with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). My dream is to become a volcanologist and dedicate my life to helping those exposed to volcanic hazards. Living with EDS has been incredibly challenging. I've endured joint pain and heart troubles throughout my life, leading to a minor heart attack in April this year, but it was only recently that I received a diagnosis after repeatedly dislocating my right knee. This has caused permanent nerve damage, leaving me with a permanent limp and the need to use walking aids.

Despite these challenges, I worked three part-time jobs during my undergraduate degree so that I wouldn't burden my parents financially. Unfortunately, this took a severe toll on my body. Now, with my health in decline, it has become impossible for me to work while pursuing a master's degree.

I am reaching out for your support to help make my dream of becoming a volcanologist a reality. Your contributions will assist me in covering the costs of my master's degree, allowing me to focus on my studies and ultimately work towards protecting communities from volcanic hazards.
