My name is Julie. My niece, Noelle Harkabus was sitting at a stoplight in Columbus, Ohio, after leaving work at 11pm on Thursday night when a man jumped in the passenger side of her car, punched her in the eye and said “drive ________”. Thank goodness she takes boxing classes because as he tried moving on top of her in the driver’s seat, she was able to still have a clear frame of mind after the punch and jump out of the car onto the street as he pulled away. She ran to the Shell station on the corner as 911 was called. The police ended up on a chase into two counties and were able to apprehend this man and Noelle’s car. Noelle was transported by ambulance to the emergency room where she received stitches and was treated.
We feel that it is a blessing that Noelle is alive and well and that she was able to recover almost everything in her car. Yet, the car was severely damaged. It looks like during the chase the perpetrator ran into something multiple times. We are assuming that the police chase ended with the car running into something completely shredding the front tire, damaging the rim beyond repair and damaging the side of the car. The alignment is also messed up and the brakes are making a strange sound. Her cell phone is gone. We are assuming he threw it out the window so that the police couldn’t track him.
Noelle was struggling financially before this happened. We do not know at this point exactly how much it will cost to fix her vehicle or replace her cell phone or pay for the medical expenses. She just needs something to be able to help her get started on replacing her phone and repairing her car. We appreciate any help given. Thank you.
