Hi, my name is Jordan Hansford and I am the uncle to Ty. Ty is now 19 years of age and was diagnosed with stage 4 gastro-oesophageal cancer two years ago. He has received amazing care to date from the awesome teams at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and now Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. He has unfortunately continued to struggle and we are near a turning point in his care.
As background, I am also an oncologist in Australia caring for children with brain tumours. As with my own patients, I refuse to give up on my nephew. While the teams continue to offer best care, including amazing clinical trials, I am keen to push even harder. Based around the amazing results in pancreatic cancers, I have developed a clinical trial using personalised mRNA vaccines for young people with brain cancer that can be extended to other cancers. But treatment outside a clinical trial is not cheap, and while we can design and make Ty what our team feels is an excellent vaccine to fight his cancer, it is not free. As such, for the first time in my professional career, I am asking for help for my family. Anything anyone can offer will be much appreciated, treasured and thanked. As I do always in life, it will be paid forward to all those we can help as able. Please consider helping Ty....he is very proud, strong kid....who often refuses to ask for help, but needs it now.
