My Name is Oscar Avila and I Want to LIVE

Hello friends and family,

 

I am reaching out to ask for your help and support. I never thought this would happen, and my heart is broken, and no words can describe the pain this news has caused Oscar, my son Brandon, and our families.

On December 24th, 2022, At only 36 years old, our Dear Oscar Avila (Brandon’s dad) was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma cancer that metastasized to his lungs and sacrum. This news has come surprisingly and the result of what seemed to be a regular “cold.” Oscar’s unexpected diagnosis has flipped our lives upside down and it has been the worst news of our lives.

His son, Brandon, being only 12 years old wants nothing more than to have his dad forever. No child should have to go through this, and it breaks my heart to see mine doing so. We all count on our dads to be there always: graduation, birthdays, wrestling tournaments, wedding days and so many other countless life experiences. I will do anything in my power for my son to have a father that every child desperately needs.

Oscar is a kind, compassionate, and hardworking man who always puts others before himself. He is the best father, a friend and a beloved member of any community he joins. Oscar deserves all the love and support we can give him during this difficult time.

Unfortunately, Oscar was not prepared nor insured for this kind of illness. Insurance is refusing to cover his medical expenses due to his condition. Treatment costs associated with melanoma are very expensive. Oscar is struggling to meet these expenses. That's why I have set up this GoFundMe campaign to help cover some of the costs and relieve some of the financial burdens. I’d want nothing more than for Oscar to get a fair chance at fighting this. Unfortunately, this cannot happen without appropriate treatments. 


Any contribution, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated and will make a big difference in Oscar's journey toward recovery. We understand that not everyone can donate, and we are grateful for any shares of this to others, thoughts, and prayers you can offer.
