My Mya
Donation protected
On February 14, 2023, my daughter, Mya, underwent a very complicated surgery at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital called vertebral body tethering. It's a procedure to treat scoliosis in children ages 8-16 who aren't responding to bracing. Metal anchors and a flexible tether are attached to the spine to allow for continued growth and movement while preventing further curvature. Due to Mya's fragile medical condition, this surgery has taken a serious toll on her. In addition to the immense amount of pain she is enduring, her body is having a hard time recovering from the procedure. As of last night, she is once again in the PICU, due to fluid build-up in both lungs. She is on a BiPap machine to ensure she receives enough oxygen while they work on clearing the fluid. She is also on a feeding tube to ensure her body gets enough nutrition and is strong enough to heal. With this latest medical development, I want to urgently be by Mya's side. Unfortunately, I do not have the funds to do so. Hotels run $150-200/night and hospital parking is $35/day. I have no idea how long Mya will be hospitalized, but I desperately want to be there for her as long as needed. I finally decided I have no choice but to ask for donations. Any amount would be greatly appreciated. Mya is a fighter, as you all know, and I just want to be there to comfort her. Thank you for everyone's concern and support during this difficult time.
