To all family, friends and community members

My beautiful mother Debra has recently been unexpectedly diagnosed with stage 4 Metastatic melanoma lung cancer.

Metastatic cancer is a cancer that has spread from where it started to another part of the body. It is also known as stage IV or advanced cancer.

As she begins this journey, whilst she is facing this battle with incredible courage, unfortunately the associated costs involved for treatment will begin to take a toll on our family and will continue to do so throughout the duration of this battle.

Whilst this diagnosis has come as a shock to our family, unfortunately the world around us does not slow down or stop.

Despite a publicly funded healthcare system the out of pocket costs associated with the diagnosis and treatment begin to add up quickly especially living in a regional area within Far North Queensland.

These costs can include anything between travel, hospital stays, specialist services, parking, treatment prescriptions and over the counter medications for supportive care.

To be able to give Mum the best chance possible in overcoming this disease and to allow her to continue creating beautiful memories with her children, much loved grandchildren, family and friends, we are seeking financial support to help us throughout this difficult time.

All contributions, no matter the size will go directly towards supporting Mum’s treatment.
