My Mum and her battle

My mum , Sarah Roch is fighting her Cervical Cancer battle for the second time.

The past 18 months my mum has been trying to rebuild her life after her fight with Cervical Cancer.

Her life after cancer she has spent every 3 months having regular scans to keep a check on her. Since may last year , she has been suffering with pain which was to be expected with the scarring and after effects of radiotherapy.

She managed to train for a boxing event which she loved every minute of but was hard work for her. She won top fundraiser for Plymouth raising a total of £3185 for Cancer Research. In November the pain was getting increasingly worse day by day and in December the pain got so bad she was being physically sick and had to call the doctor who gave her two injections for pain relief and a antiemetic. She had a few weeks of it being settled but then it flared up again on Christmas Day which resulted in her being in bed all day and missing out on family time.

On the 7th of January she has a PET scan to see what was going on. On the 11th of January the pain was so bad she was admitted to hospital. She spent a few days in hospital where she was given the results of her PET scan the cancer has returned.

Plymouth and Truro had a mdt meeting and said there was nothing they could do because of where the tumour is and have referred her to The Royal Marsden to see if they’re prepared to take her case on.

She went to The Royal Marsden on Thursday and they have confirmed she has two lesions on the left side that they are counting as one as it looks like a dumbbell shape and lesions on the right side which they are unsure of as it could just be radiotherapy changes. The doctor wants to do a laparoscopy so that they can determine how far the disease has spread.

I have decided to set up a go fund me page to take some pressure off my mum whilst she’s having her treatment. So she doesn’t have to worry about paying bills or to even help towards her holiday or whatever she decides to use it for.

My mum is always willing to help others and now it’s time for us to give back.
