My MS discovery and battle

Donation protected
Hello,

My name is Ben.

I have recently discovered that I have MS. I used to live alone with my dog Nova and now miss my loving partner so much... at least she is now with a dear friend: he has adopted her, and I know she is surrounded by love... it always makes me smile.

Unfortunately, I am finding it increasingly difficult to properly care for myself... now a broken hand - second break this year. This disease has had a dramatic impact on my life. I lost my job, I am unable to drive, and I am struggling to navigate the government red/white tape of starting disability payments. Progress is being made: we're getting closer - February 12, 2024 is next: disability hearing... I'm scared. But i trust my caseworker completely: I know she'll help carry me through.

Thanks so much to the amazing help I've been so fortunate to receive. Truly: amazing people are in my world - I still don't always believe I should be so lucky. But that, too, is changing... maybe.

I am working with doctors to determine how best to cope with this new challenge and working through physical therapy to minimize the frequent falls caused by my muscle control loss. This has been mentally and physically challenging for me as I am used to being resourceful and independent.

I haven't given up, but my finances have become strained as I try to adjust to my newly discovered challenges. But again, I haven't given up: I don't really know how to give up. I don't know how to stop trying - and I will not give up. Period. (Funny how those have re-entered my life again... so grateful: thank you to all of my loved ones that help keep me on this narrow path!)

I never thought I would be in the position where I would need to ask for help, but here I am. I know that these are challenging times for everyone, but even a small donation will help to keep my head above water until I am able to get back on firm footing. And, to be sure, I'm on that path... it's there; I see it; and, yes with the occasional fall, I'm walking it while I still can.

Thank you for your consideration and compassion.
