My mother suffered a stroke and we need help

Hello. My name is Elysa Groves, and on September 15th, the world of my three siblings and I was turned completely upside down. My mother, who raised us as a single mom during a very tumultuous time, has always taught us to treat others how we like to be treated; to be selfless, kind, and compassionate. That’s also the way she treats everyone she encounters, whether stranger or friend. She would give you her last dime if she had it. Her generosity when people are in need reaches no bounds. You can only imagine my utter terror as she was lying in front of me on the floor having a seizure. I wasn’t sure if she was going to make it. I thought the light of my life was going to be extinguished. Later we found out she was having a hemorrhagic stroke, or brain bleed, which most people don’t survive. She spent almost an entire month in several different hospitals, being monitored intensely and undergoing therapy to regain lost brain function. Luckily, her undying spirit and resilience, coupled with the support of her family and friends, brought her from the brink of death. She is an attorney, so as you can imagine, she needs her full brain function in order to practice law. She has no way to support us at this time, and we are unsure of when she will be able to return to work. My mother is the kind of person who would starve herself so that you could eat, no matter who you were to her. She is a bright beacon and shines her loving energy on everyone she meets, and my only wish in getting this story out there is that it encourages people to live selflessly, because that’s the only way real change can happen. We have to care about one another, in the same way my mom cares for others. I hope my story has made you feel a little bit of compassion today because my family and I could really use your help. We thank each and every one of you who find it in your hearts to help our family out. Know that we would do the same.
