My Mom's Recovery Fund After Dog Attack

My name is Maria, I'm reaching out on behalf of my incredible mother, Diana. I'm one of three daughters to my wonderful mom, her youngest being 6 years old. My mom is an Instacart Shopper, doing everything she can to provide for her family, especially her 6 year old daughter that recently started school. Life has thrown my mom a few curveballs, and recently she was saving up for a surgery that my Mom desperately needs.

On, October 06th, 2023, while doing deliveries like she always does, something unimaginable happened. She arrived to a customer's house, but their German Shepard got out through the front door and attacked my mom. It was terrifying, and captured on her dash cam. Somehow my mom managed to escape, but not without serious injuries. She called 911, and was taken to the hospital, where she had to undergo surgery, leaving her with over 30 stitches, on her dominant arm, hand, foot and leg. Had she not been able to escape the dog would have bit through her Achilles tendon, and she never would be able to walk again. The dog also was not up to date on any of its shots, so she has to be administered rabies shots as well in between her recovery. She will have scarring for the rest of her life as a reminder of this day.

Not only was this a terrible and scary experience for everyone involved, but my mom can not go back to work for a few weeks while she recovers. Since she is unable to work, her bills will start piling up, for the apartment, her car, and the surgery she was working to save money for. This surgery is a matter of life and death. It's a gum infection that is spreading towards her jaw bone and possibly to her brain.

Mi nombre es María, me comunico en nombre de mi increíble madre, Diana. Soy una de las tres hijas de mi maravillosa madre; la menor tiene 6 años. Mi mama es una compradora de Instacart e hizo todo lo posible para mantener a su familia, especialmente a su hija de 6 años, que recientemente comenzó la escuela. La vida le ha lanzado a mi mamá algunas curvas y recientemente estaba ahorrando para una cirugía que mi mamá necesita desesperadamente.

El 06 de octubre de 2023, mientras hacía entregas como siempre lo hace, sucedió algo inimaginable. Llegó a la casa de un cliente, pero su pastor alemán salió por la puerta principal y atacó a mi mamá. Fue aterrador y fue captado por su cámara de tablero. De alguna manera mi mamá logró escapar, pero no sin heridas graves. Llamó al 911 y la llevaron al hospital, donde tuvo que someterse a una cirugía, dejándola con más de 30 puntos en su brazo, mano, pie y pierna dominantes. Si no hubiera podido escapar, el perro le habría mordido el tendón de Aquiles y nunca más hubiera podido volver a caminar. El perro tampoco estaba al día con ninguna de sus vacunas, por lo que también se le deben administrar vacunas contra la rabia entre su recuperación. Tendrá cicatrices por el resto de su vida como recordatorio de este día.

Esta no sólo sé fue una experiencia terrible y aterradora para todos los involucrados, sino que mi mamá no podrá volver a trabajar durante algunas semanas mientras se recupera. Como no puede trabajar, sus facturas empezarán a acumularse, por el apartamento, el coche y la cirugía para la que estaba trabajando para ahorrar dinero. Esta cirugía es una cuestión de vida o muerte. Es una infección de las encías que se está extendiendo hacia la mandíbula y posiblemente hasta el cerebro.
