My Moms Fighting Chance
Donation protected
Some of you may or may not know that my mom has been fighting for her life over the past few months.
Back in December 2020, she was diagnosed with a terminal lung disease called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) with a life expectancy of 5 years.
She had maintained a slow decrease in health over the past few years, but in July 2024 her health took a very rapid decline and she was put on oxygen full time. My amazing step dad took on the responsibility of becoming her full time caretaker causing both of them to stop working.
Her medical team quickly realized her only chance of survival was a double lung transplant and she was officially placed on the list in November 2024. The wait time on the list can be from today up to a year.
The doctors recommended they move to Toronto ASAP to be closer to Toronto General Hospital where her surgery will take place. They moved into their apartment on December 1st 2024 only a few blocks from the hospital. This decision has caused my parents to live solely off their savings, while still paying the mortgage on their house in London and the insane rent in downtown Toronto.
My parents could really use the support of family and friends in this difficult time. We really appreciate your help in any way you can.
