My Mommy and the Suicide Disease

Donation protected
In 2009, Katie was a victim of an attempted murder and kidnapping . The assult Katie suffered caused severe brain damage and led to her current condition, the Suicide Disease, Trigeminal Neuralgia. She has had a very tough road since that fateful day. 50% of people with TN commit suicide within 2 years of being diagnosed. Imagine suffering a condition that causes debilitating, excruciating pain when doing the norms of life, such as eating, drinking, talking, laughing, smiling, brushing your teeth, breezes, or just playing with your son or daughter. This disease has progressed to the point that Katie needs around the clock care, a host of medications with horrid side effects and brain surgery on May 24th. Due to requiring constant care and help with everyday tasks and having a 3 year old son to also care for, her husband has been forced to be her caregiver. Until Katies surgery and for months of recovery, she and her family are in dire financial circumstances. They have exhausted any and all family assistance and all other sorces of assistance. By chosen profession due to her giving nature and compassion for others in need, Katie is a CNA and not only has she committed herself to this selfless profession but she has achieved a level of care for her patients that has been recognized over and over by the companies shes worked with. Now Katie is the one in need. She has fought this disease for over 6 years, and has tried her hardest to stay working and lead a normal life inspite of her condition, however it has gotten to the point where most days she cannot get out of bed due to the diseases progression. This is a young lady and family that has been through more set backs, trauma, and heartache then any family should be asked to endure. I feel its important to mention that Katie loves the lord and without god, she openly admits that she would become one of the statistics ,aka -suicide disease. There is nothing more heart wrenching then listening to a 28 year old mother and wife feel that on some days she would rather not wake up because of the pain and how this disease has literally ripped her life and quality of, apart piece by piece. Gabriel her 3 year old son doesnt understand why Mommy cant do all the normal things she used to do with him. Katie has to try to pretend much of the time that shes not crying and not moaning in the terrible pain that has become a daily reality for her. Inspite of this families terrible circumstances they still hold steadfastly close to the lord and each other, many days its only their faith, hope, and love that keeps them going just as god spoke of in 2nd Corinthians. This family is only seaking out the bare minimum amount of money it requires to prevent them from losing their home, to pay their debts that accrued as a result of TN and pay thier bills while Katie requires constant care. May 24th at Froedert in Milwaukee, Dr. Sochoa is performing Katies brain surgery that she hopes and prays will bring her back to a normal life again , being able to just smile again without being afraid of the pain, being able to play with her son like she used to, and serve her patients again , and enjoy all the other normal things that everyone of you do without even realizing how it would be not being able to those things. Unfortunately for this young woman, dizziness, vomiting, weakness, horrible sickness, has become an everyday occurrence and battle to stay hopeful and sane. Please anyone out there that can help this family, please do. Any funds raised will only be used for medications, electric, water, gas to get to her weekly routine doctor appointments, food, and other living expenses, no luxurious of any kind. If anyone is interested in further information pertaining to Katies medical diagnosis, doctors involved or anything else is more then available to you all. One of the major contributing factors to Katies recent escalation of her condition has largely been inpart due to the stress related to her current financial difficulties. I would like to give you all an example of the kind of person Katie is. Recently, when i spoke to Katie of this Go Fund Me idea, the very first thing that Katie was concerned about was funds coming to her that others in need could use. Think about the kind of situation this young lady and her family is in and still all Katie could think about was others in need. In my opinion that is the most powerful reason i can think of as to why she deserves your help. Faith, hope, and love is the very center core of this families belief system as gods own words.
