My Mom's Cancer Treatment Fund

I don't really know how to do this. I've never had to put something like this together, and I really wish I didn't have to now. But, here we are. My mom has cancer. And it's real bad.  My mom, Melissa, has is one of the best people I know. She is the most supportive person in my life. She left the life that she had built in Utah behind so that she could help me move to California and go after my dream. She has always been willing to do things like that for her kids without a second thought. Her first priority is her kids, even if that means leaving her own needs behind, and now I want to give back to her a little bit and help her focus on herself.

While we were living in our little apartment in Los Angeles, my mom got sick. It started out as a cough that continually got worse. She finally decided to go to urgent care to figure out what was wrong. After a couple of visits and rounds of antibiotics, they decided to do an x-ray of her chest to see if she had pneumonia. They found out that she not only had pneumonia, but she also had a nodule in her lung that needed to be checked immediately.

She quickly decided to travel to our home state of Utah to get a CT scan at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. After she got the CT scan the doctors realized that she has multiple nodules on her lungs and even more in her breast. They told her it was cancer and she would need more testing to determine what kind. She got a lung biopsy done which proved it to be metastasized breast cancer. Her kind of cancer has a survivability of about 3-5 years in the best cases. She has to be very careful and stay very healthy. She has made the very difficult decision to move back to Utah to get treatment near her family.

She recently started chemo. She will do high-intensity chemotherapy for the next five months and then continue with a lower intensity chemotherapy for a year and a half after that. She got a port put in to make the process easier and has a lot of pills to take to keep her healthy and comfortable through all this.

As I'm sure you can imagine, this is very expensive and on top of all the medical bills, we are still worried about regular bills. She has had to quit her job because she is completely bedridden, she is on oxygen 24/7, and we are all working to come to terms with the situation.

If there is anything you can do to help, donating, sharing, sending love, we would greatly appreciate it. We are so grateful for everyone who can help out during this difficult time. Thank you so much.
