My Mom was attacked by 3 Dogs

Hello, we are fundraising to help my mom, Laurie Tornese, and our family pay for the hospital bills after my mom was brutally attacked by three dogs(pitbull mixes) on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. She will have to be on long-term IV Medicine, Physical Therapy, and several doctor appointments.

My mom and I were casually walking in our neighborhood on Wednesday, March 22, it was just the two of us. We have walked this path multiple times over the 23 years we have lived in this house. We were on the street closest to a retention pond and farthest away from the houses. Then all of a sudden we heard a dog barking and turned around to see a pitbull mix charging us from a nearby house. When the dog reached us he started to calm down and sniff at us. Seconds later a second dog came running out of the house, we later found out that they had crawled out of a window that the owner had left cracked.

When the second dog approached us, it started to make the first dog more aggressive and suddenly my mom and I were being bumped and circled by two barking and growling 75-80 pound pit bulls. It was scary, but my mom and I knew that we needed to take control of the dominance. We stood our ground and started to very loudly tell the dogs to "Go Home," which started to work because the two dogs calmed down and turned around to go home. That is when the third dog ran around the house charging toward us, and all hell broke loose.

Around the time the third dog ran out a white SUV came around the corner, a very nice lady and her ten-year-old daughter driving home from school pick-up. She saw what was going on and pulled her car right in front of us to try to block the third dog from reaching us, this helped for a brief moment. My mom and I were in full panic, we did not know what to do. The three dogs were circling us, barking and growling and nipping at our legs. The lady in the car motioned to my mom to get in, and as soon as my mom took a couple of steps the three dogs targeted her.

One of the dogs jumped on my mom's back with all four legs and pushed her to the ground. She landed right on her face and all three dogs started to aggressively attack and bite my mom right in front of me. I didn't know what to do, my mom didn't know what to do, and the lady in the car didn't know what to do. Everything happened so quickly. I took a jacket off my waist and started to whip the dogs and scream as loud as I could "GET OFF MY MOM." We later found out that there was a lawn service down the road and the four guys working saw what was happening and ran down to help. We truly believe it could have been so much worse if they were not there.

The dogs finally ran away and my mom and I got into the white SUV. The lady driving the SUV drove as fast as she could to the ER.

My mom has spent a week in two different hospitals and has extensive damage to her left leg. This will be a long road to recovery.
