My Mom, The Super Hero

On December 6, 2016, my mother, Rita was diagnosed with Stage 4 head and neck cancer – Squamous cell carcinoma. She discovered a lump in her neck while at work on November 26th. My mom is a beautiful 57 year old woman that is the heart of our family. Not only is she an amazing wife and mother, she is the BEST and most loving grandma.
On December 20th, my Mom underwent a very intensive surgery to remove the cancer in her neck. This was the first of many hurdles she will face. However, her strength and spirit is stronger than this illness.
Her fight with chemotherapy and Radiation treatments have started on January 30th. Radiation is 5 days a week for 7 weeks, and Chemo is once a week for 9 weeks.
My Mom was working part time at an independent living facility for the elderly; she loves to take care of people, young and old. Unfortunately, she is unable to work at this time while heeling from surgery and now starting her treatments. Getting her better and through this is our #1 goal! Cancer may have started this but by mom will finish it!!
“When it rain it pours”, is an understatement in our family lately. Rob, my Dad has also just lost his job. He has worked for the same company for the past 17 years. It has been an emotional rollercoaster to say the least. Therefore, I have set up this page to help my Mom and Dad with immediate healthcare costs and to subsidize their lost income.
Please keep my Mom and our wonderful family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. All of your help, prayers, support, and love are so greatly appreciated. Big hugs to everyone and thank you so much please continue to share this page if you can.
Mom, you are loved more than you will ever know. Our heartfelt love and prayers will be sent your way.
Lastly, I am beyond thankful for the time you have taken to read this about my super hero mother, the strongest person I know!
