Hi, my name is Chasity. My mother is Melissa Seaver. My mother has always been there for me not only as a mom but a best friend as well. It is my turn to be there for her in a way I can’t do alone. Melissa has endured a lot of surgeries in the past, and we find ourselves in a very difficult spot with her health. She is one of the strongest women I know, always pushing, never giving up, being a mom to many, a friend to even more, and doing all this with love in her heart.

A year ago, we found out both of her shoulders are so bad off that she needed both shoulders replaced. So, embarking on this journey, we saved and saved so she could have the surgeries and recover. She had the first surgery on her right shoulder 8 months ago. It was not an easy or simple surgery with all her health complications, but she fought through it. The doctor and we had a time frame and plan; however, other things have become a bigger issue for her. We have had to put her left shoulder off due to her spine.

While she was doing physical therapy for her right shoulder, she experienced a new pain in her hip, which was actually coming from her spine and pinched nerves. After months of trying to find the right spine specialist, we finally found a doctor who is listening to her and realizes how much pain she is in. Her spine has a curve which has moved 4-5 discs and is pinching nerves, causing her excruciating pain to just do simple tasks like change clothes, take a shower, or even go to the bathroom. Due to her spine, we have had to put her left shoulder off, running the risk she could lose complete mobility in that arm. We finally have a team of doctors working together to try and get her spine in a place where we can go through with the left shoulder.

So, due to the new pain and new findings in her spine, we have run out of savings for her rent, water, and light bills. We have to pay a portion out of pocket for certain doctors but have no other choice but to do so. The doctors finally have a plan in action, but the recovery from this all is a long road ahead of her. She won’t be able to work for the rest of the year, and I am doing my best to stay afloat. We don’t have any family; it’s my mom and me. My goal is to try and take some stress off of her so she can focus on these 3 spine procedures, her left shoulder, and another surgery on her right due to not being able to finish physical therapy because of the nerves. It hasn’t healed correctly, causing another surgery on that arm.

I am asking for help, which is not an easy thing to do. My mom deserves a fair chance to heal without the stress of worrying about losing her home. I am doing my best to keep it together, but it has been a lot and a long road, with more of a long road to go! Finding the team of doctors was one huge step in the right direction to have a plan, but now I need help to keep her home, lights, and water on so I can work and take care of her. We are asking for donations for her rent, lights, and water while I will take care of medical expenses as they come along. She is a fighter, has overcome so much in life, and has never given up on me or anyone she loves.
