My mom has recurring Ovarian cancer

Donation protected
Hey there,

My name is Matthew. I am one of the three children that my wonderful mother has. My mom, a fighter and superhuman, has survived some crazy instances in her life. She survived a motorcycle accident that sent her sliding over 100 feet, survived an emergency birth when she hemorrhaged while having me, and she beat breast cancer ten years ago.

In 2020 however, the most giant Goliath she had faced stepped into the ring. In January of 2020, my mother went to the ER with stomach pain that had been ongoing for a few days, and then a few hours later got the news that would forever change her life and all of our lives as well. She had ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer that had spread. Ovarian cancer stage 3C, we found out in the coming days.

If you are not familiar with late-stage Ovarian cancer, the percentages aren’t what you want to see or hear about. My mom went in for surgery two days after diagnosis, and after discussion and quite a bit of shared crying, began chemo treatments two weeks later.

Chemo was rough, as it always is, but my mom never stopped smiling and believing. She wanted to live; she wanted to fight because of her three children she loves and cares for deeply and five young grandchildren that she loves possibly even more.

Mom did well! She progressed thru treatments and the cancer went into remission. This was all done alone, as in early 2020 the world went into lockdown from the COVID-19 pandemic, and nobody was permitted in the treatment rooms with her, understandably. She did it all with a smile, and the day she walked out and rang the bell will forever be one of her proudest achievements. Glory to God and the medical staff to get her thru round 1!

However, after one and a half years in remission, mom began having stomach pains again. She was worried even though her routine checkups weren't showing anything of interest yet, until her pet scan came back January 20 of 2022. Her cancer is back, and she is devastated. Ovarian cancer, once it comes back, is furious cancer. You can fight it, but it becomes a fight against battles and no longer as much about winning the war. She will begin chemo again and has three options she will exhaust even with terrible side effects as a severe possibility.

My mom has small grandchildren that she loves, three kids she loves, a daughter-in-law (my wonderful wife) who gives everything she can and has developed a deep bond with my mother while raising our kids. To put it into a summarization, she has a will to live. On top of that, she is a fighter - she will fight with her everything to be here for her family and friends against whatever odds she is handed. She thanks God daily for her blessings and never complains, but she is hurting emotionally this time around.

I created this GoFundMe to kindly ask to help fight with my mom against Ovarian cancer. Your donation will help alleviate the financial burden cancer treatments can place, help her with bills to keep her stress at bay and help her achieve the goals she has set out to do. Your support means so much to my mother and our family. If you have read this, please consider praying for my mother, whether you can or cannot contribute financially. We fully believe in the power of prayer to heal, which is the greatest wish we could ask for.

I will provide updates on my mother's battle, as well as pictures of her successes and triumphs.

Thank you all, have a blessed day and make sure always to hug your loved ones!
