Support for Barbara’s Recovery Journey
Hey family, friends and strangers alike, I am seeking support and prayers for my mom Barbara Giles and my family... On January 3rd, a day after I visited my mom Barbara, in NYC, we found her in the hospital ICU . She suffered a devastating fall which RESULTED in traumatic brain injury, stroke and other issues. As of today, my mom is now breathing on her own, moving her limbs and trying to speak. My sisters and I have been by her side working with a team to get her on a road to recovery. She is amazingly strong and has made great progress over the past two weeks.
So why am I sharing this and starting a go fund me? I need your help!! What you may or may not know is that since August I have been my moms caregiver. I worked 60 hours a week and then drove to NYC 3 days a week to assist my mom. Most recent, I got injured in an accident that cut back my time caring for my mother. Along with my sisters Felica and Melvia, we have done a good job managing her care. But it has put a strain on us. Mom is legally blind, has seizures and other health issues as she turned 75 in December. What do I need your help for? I need your help and support in the finacial burden of not working, traveling to NYC , medical bills, and the basic care of my mom and her future. .
The last thing I want is for family or friends and even strangers to say "why didn't you just ask or why didn't you come to me". I'm asking now. I want to be there as my mom recovers ( and she will), we dont want to wait or not be ready for whats next. She will need sub acute care for rehab and possible long term care. This can be costly. My dream would be for her to return to Keyport where she was raised and live with me but she is a New Yorker!! She is tough, funny, generous, kind, well liked and sooo much fun to be around!!
