My mom and her expenses

Hi, my name is Emily. I am trying to raise money for my mom. My mom has been battling sickness since November of 2022. She went in January 1st to the ER and was treated then sent home but wound up right back in the ER January 29th. She was admitted that night then transferred to St. Francis in Peoria. She was in the hospital for a week in a half when she was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer. She spent 3 weeks in the hospital total on this wild ride and finally came home this past Sunday. As excited and thankful we are to have her home, we understand that there is a long road ahead of us. Doctor visits, chemotherapy and radiation, physical therapy, medication, at home visits on top of the regular bills that occur will be a part of that road and so much more.
She isn’t getting FMLA and we are trying to file for disability at this time. But we are hit hard, as she is the only income for my 3 cousins (15,12,10) who she is the legal guardian for and continues to be during all of this.
Any contribution that can be made, we will be extremely thankful and grateful for. Please help us, help my mom.

07/21/23: Big update on mom:

Hey y’all. It’s been a little while. We were hoping of having some exciting news to share, unfortunately it’s not the news we had hoped for. Since my last update, mom has had several vacations to the hospital. Our last visit, mom ended up taking out her kidney tube on accident.
Whoopsie! She went to the hospital, had it back in and all was fine. A week later she went back to find out that the tubing was kinked, (which can happen), and actually dislodged. It wasn’t even in her kidney at all a week later. How? No idea. But this was good news, as her kidneys were actually functioning beautifully and normally. So out with the kidney tube! Yay!! The positives ✨ When we left, we were going to wait for the next scan to follow up and see how the treatment was going. We felt hopeful and excited.

Now.. we are back in the hospital. We thought mom had caught that nasty GI bug that’s been moving around that almost mocks the flu. She did not. We thought she was on the verge of sepsis so off to the ER she went, but actually she was not. This visit, she had a SEVERE UTI as well as fluid in her lungs. She couldn’t breathe but it was believed to be related to the smoke coming from the wild fires in Canada. We were confused because she was JUST in the hospital and her lungs were great. Well, after clearing a little over a liter of fluid from moms right lung, scans showed spots on her lungs.. after further review and consulting with her oncologist, the cancer has spread to moms lungs. The cancer in the liver is more evident and the lymph nodes and cervix remain the same. Immunotherapy is not working. We are pretty upset and are fighting the feeling of being devastated. Good news, the doctor is going to attempt a different type of treatment. The liquid from moms lung is being sent out for testing as far as checking if the cancer caused it or if it was a separate infection.

So, the next treatment option is Chemo. for those who are new to the journey, mom had a VERY bad reaction to her first round of chemo. What will be different with this time, it will be ONE type of chemo. The original treatment of chemo she under went, there was more than one. The doctor is hoping this will give us a more desired outcome and mom will be able to tolerate it. We get our first treatment of that hopefully in 2 weeks as it depends on this current hospital visit. We still have tests and ultra sounds to do and wait for. So all things are subject to that.

Keep them positive vibes coming and I will do my best to keep everyone updated.

Much love.❤️
