My Midwifery elective placement in Tanzania

Hi, as most of you will know, I'm a second-year student Midwife at Hertfordshire University.

This year we have the opportunity to undertake an elective placement in an area of my choice and I have come across the charity, Knowledge for Change. Charity no: 1146911

I have a fantastic opportunity to travel to countries that are far more deprived than us here in the UK, with different protocols, emergencies, and management of situations. After looking into the charity and placements they provide, I have chosen to travel to Tanzania, Zanzibar and volunteer within the hospital and community setting in Stown Town for 3 weeks this summer.

During my time here I feel this would be an amazing learning opportunity, broadening my outlook on maternity care, boosting my confidence, and enhancing my future practice as a midwife. Moreover, I feel providing care to these women will allow me to give something back, using the skills I have learned throughout this degree so far.

This placement comes at a huge expense, as I am currently studying full-time as an unpaid student, therefore I would be very grateful for any sponsorship towards the costs. Knowledge for Change is a non-profit charity that provides placements for students in various countries, providing flights, transfers, and shared accommodation as a package. Added expenses include vaccinations, travel insurance and a visa for travel.

I am looking for sponsorship to help raise funds as this is a large expense and I would be grateful for any donations kindly made towards this fantastic opportunity.
