Hi I’m Declan, a student from Hillbrook and a mate of Eli. The point of this fund raiser is to raise money for my friend who was recently diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, which is a cancer that grows on the bones. I wish to raise $1000, if that’s possible, for my friend and his family to go on a trip to where his dad grew up. They will use the money to hire a motorhome to drive and visit places in New South Wales.
Eli was diagnosed in February last year and he and his family had to leave their home in Yeppoon and come to Brisbane to start treatment straight away. He didn’t even get to start high school. He had 9 months of intensive chemotherapy before finally ringing the bell in the hospital for overcoming one of the hardest things in life, cancer. Eli and his family were finally able to return to their home in Yeppoon at the end of last year. In April this year, at his second check-up, Eli found out that the cancer had returned, not even 6 months since his last chemo session.
I really want your help raise as much money as possible to give Eli his wish of visiting his dads home. They hope to leave at the end of this month (June). To the Hillbrook student, or teacher, that donates the most money, I will give them the opportunity of shaving my head at the last assembly this semester - that's only one week away! Every little bit counts so please help me raise some money for my mate!
