Hi! I'm glad you're here!
As adults we have millions of stories to read that lift us and inspire us while working through difficult and confusing times in our lives. For children in the hospital there are a growing number, but still too few stories where the main character shares their experiences and challenges. This book is written for those children.
Hi, my name is Christina Walker Leichman and as an infant I had life saving surgeries within my first 8 hrs on earth. These surgeries allowed me to become the person I am today. Working in healthcare for many years I noticed a slight gap between the number of medical interventions and social, psychological, and spiritual support young children and families receive while hospitalized. Therefore, I wrote a book, titled “My Magic Wings” which is designed to encourage and support young children and their families explore their thoughts and feelings; fears, as well as triumphs, ultimately assisting them in remaining optimistic.
Early childhood is a magical time and this book, while dealing with a serious subject, creates a dreamlike space full of wonder to draw away some of the stress of a family's current situation. Readers follow the main character, Anya, through 24 pages of her experiences in the hospital and will be captivated by illustrations which allow beauty and nature to embrace the audience throughout the books journey. Rachel Barbee's illustrations sooth the soul, excite the heart, and give the children something bright and colorful on which to focus.

Publishing a book is a time consuming and expensive process. I am respectfully asking you to please consider donating to help get “My Magic Wings” in print . Any amount is appreciated. Thank you so much. As you donate, I'm able to take books to the Hospital for free.
