My Lung Transplant Surgery
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Nimmy Joy, a 33-year-old nurse from India. Five years ago, I came to Ireland full of dreams to serve as a nurse. However, my life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, a life-threatening condition that requires a double lung transplant.
For the past four years, I’ve been on Ireland’s high-priority transplant waiting list, but due to the unavailability of matching donors, my chances of receiving a transplant here are slim. Doctors from both countries agrees that I have a better chance in India than in Ireland to get the transplant. My condition has worsened—I’m now entirely dependent on oxygen and morphine and can no longer work, move freely, or even laugh or cry without difficulty. Every day feels like a battle, but with God’s grace and my husband Vibin’s unwavering support, I’ve held on.
Recently, I discovered hope at an Indian hospital that performs lung transplants with a much shorter waiting time and a greater chance for a compatable match -an average of just three months. While this gives me new life, the cost of the surgery including all the bills, post, pre medical care, travel, accommodation etc, is around €75,000 and this amount is beyond what my family and I can afford. Time is critical; if I delay further, I may lose the ability to travel by air due to my condition and may end up waiting in ireland without getting a match.
I humbly ask for your help to raise funds for my transplant urgently. Your kindness could give me the chance to breathe freely again and live the life I’ve dreamed of.
Thank you for taking the time to hear my story. Your support means the world to me.
With hope and gratitude,Nimmy Joy
Kind regards,
