My name is Maria Valentin, i go by Mari. On Friday September 12 around 7am i didnt go to school and stayed home due to my stomach problems. I went back to sleep and woke up around 9. I went to my grandmas room and spent some time with her before asking if she was hungry and she said yes, I went to the kitchen to go make us some food around 9:30 ish, I went back to Lola’s (my grandma) room around 10:02 asking if she wanted some lemon on her food and she was like what are we eating and I said yes or nooo chose, she said yes and I made her guess what were having which was a Filipino food called pancit canton. she was perfectly fine still and was normal then. I want back to the kitchen and started prepping our food and I heard her yelling my name, i didnt go because she usually jokes around like that when’s shes hungry so I said hold onn im almost done. She continued for about another min so I quickly got her egg off the stove and went to go give her the food, as I walked in she looked like she was in pain and was trying to say something loudly but she just couldn’t talk. I started panicking and started asking her WHATS wrong but I couldn’t understand what she was trying to tell me. I get a call from my auntie on Lola’s phone and I tell her WHATS happening and she tells me to call paramedics. The ambulance came 5 minutes later and took her to the hospital. I was waiting in the room she was suppose to be in and my auntie arrived I went to go get her and we had to stay in the lobby. We waited for over an hour and headed home to get essentials, we came back and they told us Lola had a blood leaking from her brain. They were scheduled to do and MRI scan on her but since she kept moving around they had to postpone it tmr Saturday the 13th. We came back in the morning and I was with my siblings, when we saw Lola she didn’t look to good. She had a hemorrhagic stroke, causing her to have trouble with her speech, tossing and turning, and being numbed on the right side of her body. It was caused by the blood thinners she was prescribed. Lola’s been with me my entire life shes the reason I am the way I am today and im finding out shes going to need rehab. Shes in critical care and need 24/7 eyes on her while she sleeps. For the time being they say that everything’s is on her time her recovery all depends on her. Im only 16 years old and i am trying to get jobs, I honestly just don’t know what I’m going to do about the rent, electricity, and phone bills.
