Hi, my name is Shakira. And I'm fundraising to help my little sister Storm. She is 8 years old. Since she started walking my sister has been a tippy toe walker. As she got older, it has been very hard for her to balance, run and even wear shoes (she goes through a pair every few weeks) unfortunately she falls over alot. At the start of this year she broke her elbow caused from her toe walking. She has been having physiotherapy for a few years and been through a big session of casting for a few months and still my little sister walks on her toes. Shes even seen paediatricians, orthopaedics and doctors over the years. Finally the orthopaedic surgeons in Brisbane children's hospital put my sister on the waiting list to have Bilateral Zone 2 Tendoachillies release and casting. This has been a long wait coming, my mum got the phone call that it is going ahead and Storm is having her surgery in 2 weeks Mum had alot to organise! Bought a kids wheelchair and a commode and to organise everything storm needs at home and in hospital. Storm had her Surgery on Thursday 19th June and it was successful. She can't stand on her feet at all, she will be in a wheelchair. It will be a long road to recovery as my little sister will have to learn to rewalk again. Storm will be going back to Brisbane children's hospital on the 30th June again to go back under for the second time round. Hopefully if everything goes well they will measure her for AFO's. This is a scary but exciting journey my sister is going on. I cannot wait for her to be flat feet and she will be able to do gymnastics and hip hop dancing and the best part no more falling over. Unfortunately Ronald McDonald house is full for the next visit to Brisbane for a few days. Plus it is school holidays. So any donation is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your help.
