Hello. My name is Sophie Magerl, and I am 17 years old. I was diagnosed with ALL leukemia when I was 15, and have not been to school since. I relapsed for the first time after a brief remission during chemotherapy, and the cancer mutated to become chemo-resistant. I then underwent CAR-T therapy, which went much better than anyone expected, but after I decided to have a Bone Marrow Transplant - just to ensure that I wouldn't relapse again. My three months inpatient for transplant were brutal (went through drug withdrawal, liver and kidney issues caused me to be on dialysis, had to spend Thanksgiving in the hospital, etc.). I finally engrafted (the donor's cells took over!) and we figured it was all over. It wasn't! I knew I would have to continue going to the hospital for checkups and labs multiple times a week, get lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies, etc. Well, the results of my biopsy showed that a small amount of cancer cells still exist in my marrow - and that those cells will likely kill me.

It's hard to think about your own fatality at just 17 years of age. There is so much that I want to do but simply don't have time to. Please, please consider donating to this fundraiser so that I can do all that I'm able to before my time comes. Both of my parents are currently unemployed - and I hate asking them for money anyway. I want to be able to spend as much time as possible with them and with my friends - but that requires money that I simply don't have and have no way of getting (too sick to work, don't have anything to sell, etc.) Thank you for reading - stay safe and healthy.
