My laptop broke and I urgently need to buy another one
Last night my laptop stopped charging.
For the past days it refused to charge from time to time and finally gave in. This is a major issue that I cannot find a solution for.
As you can see in the photos the only ports this laptop uses to charge are USB-C ports. None are working to charge. No current goes in. Only one works for data transfer. I tried 2 chargers, looked at the BIOS, did all I could. I have 10% more left of the battery after which I cannot open this laptop anymore. There is 0 chance for me to fix this since it is all soldered, tiny, and complex. Not meant to be repaired.
It is insane that the laptop works perfectly fine yet I cannot use it anymore because I cannot charge it. I am so furious. But I have so many online projects I cannot afford to live without a laptop for more than a few days. I will sell this one for parts, I will keep the RAM and the M2 drive, but need to buy another laptop asap.
I paid 1.200 Euros for this one, second hand, just 3 years ago. The battery dropped to almost 50% capacity, the trackpad did not work well since the beginning, and lately I could not type some letters unless I pressed down on them a lot. It is time to move on and buy a well built and cheap one.
I am looking at Thinkpads under 500 Euros, second hand of course. They seem to be much better built, Linux friendly, and have an amazing keyboard. Actually I am typing from one right now, my sister's, and typing feels great.
At the end of this month I have planned to go by myself with the motorhome and try to reboot TROM - write, make new videos, new content. And now this...
I only have around one thousand euros saved to allow me to buy food and fuel for the next months, so spending a few hundred euros now is too much for me. But I have to. I have no choice.
I was about to release a big blog post with updates these days too...
So, if anyone who enjoys what I do with TROM and can help a bit that would be fantastic. No pressure, I will buy a laptop anyway, is just that this is a very unexpected spending and a terrible news for me...
