My kitten was hit by a car - Please help Kylo Ren

Kylo Ren is a 5-month-old kitten who is a member of the feral cat colony living under my house in Los Angeles. I've been caring for him, his siblings, and his parents, getting them spayed and neutered.

Recently, Kylo Ren was hit by a car and suffered a severe spiral hip fracture that required emergency orthopedic surgery at the VCA West Los Angeles Emergency Animal Hospital. If we didn't act quickly, he could have possibly lost his leg. When they told me the cost of the procedure and the aftercare, they asked me if I wanted to consider euthanizing him.

I told them no. Absolutely not. I looked into his beautiful amber eyes and knew the answer.

It was a decision made from my heart; I couldn't let him lose his entire leg or be euthanized. He's a vibrant, loving, healthy little kitten with a full life ahead of him. I simply couldn't let him die that day.

Because he is a rescued feral cat, I didn't have any veterinary insurance coverage for him and am now faced with paying off an astronomical bill for his hip surgery, medications, and x-rays.
