My kids, including some with special needs, need stability, therapy, and daily care. I’m healing from surgery and chemo for triple negative breast cancer, and we need help with medical bills, prescription costs, everyday expenses, and lost income.

My story about discovering my BRCA2 mutation through Cone Health’s GeneConnect genetic screening program and the life-changing decisions that followed was recently featured by Cone Health and the Greensboro News & Record.

My Medical Journey:

December 2024: Discovered I carry the BRCA2 gene, which significantly increases the risk of breast, ovarian, and other cancers.

February 2025: Underwent prophylactic total hysterectomy. Shortly after, I had emergency surgery for hemorrhage, losing almost 40% of my blood.

August 2025: Had a prophylactic double mastectomy with direct-to-implant reconstruction.

Post-surgery pathology revealed triple negative breast cancer (TNBC); lymph nodes were clear. This is an aggressive and invasive cancer. When diagnosed it's the one you really don't want as it can metastasize to other organs quickly such as the lungs and brain.

September 23, 2025: Begin TC chemo treatment.

October 12, 2025: Begin screening for pancreatic cancer due to BRCA2 risk.

November 25, 2025: I rang the bell!!!

About My Kids & Their Needs:

My children require ongoing therapies 5 days a week, school support, and daily care, especially those with special needs.

I want to make sure they continue their routines and have everything they need to thrive, even while I focus on healing.

Challenges with Daily Life:

I’m still healing from complications of the surgery and on restrictions—I'm not supposed to be lifting, cooking, driving, laundry, or household work.

I haven’t been able to cook as much as I need to, so we rely on takeout and prepared meals, adding to financial strain.

Everyday expenses—food, medicine, gas, car payment, lawn care and school fees—are mounting.

A HUGE Thank You to Those Already Helping:
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who has been helping us with prayers, donations, rides for the kids, household help, meals, and groceries. Your support has made a huge difference, helping us get through each day and allowing me to focus on healing and to be there for my kids. YOU ARE OUR VILLAGE

How You Can Help:

Direct support for the kids: help with therapies, school supplies, or anything that supports their daily routine

Food and daily living: gift cards, takeout donations, groceries

Financial donations to cover medical costs, gas, prescriptions, bills, and urgent household needs

Sharing our story with others who may be able to help

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with our family. Every donation, prayer, act of service, or share helps us focus on what matters most—my kids’ safety, care, and well-being during this challenging time. God bless and keep you. ☦️
