I would like to take a moment to introduce myself.

My name is Jacob, and I am currently part of the U19 section at Hexham Rowing Club based in Northumberland.

Over the past few years, I have developed a strong passion for rowing, participating in various Regional and National regattas, as well as competing in GB Trials.

After participating in various national competitions over the years, I achieved my first medal at the Junior Inter Regional Regatta in Nottingham, where I secured a bronze. Additionally, I took part in the National Schools Regatta, finishing in an impressive eighth place. This achievement marked a significant milestone for Hexham Rowing Club, as it was the first time the club had ever attended this national event.

In that remarkable year, I had the privilege of competing in the Junior British Championships, where I not only secured a gold medal but also set a course time record that still stands. My achievements were further recognized when I received the Tynedale Sports Award for 2023 Youth Team of the Year and was shortlisted for the British Rowing Awards as Youth Crew of the Year. Additionally, I participated in the GB vs. France rowing trials, finishing in fifth place, marking another significant milestone for Hexham Rowing Club.

In 2024, I was honoured to receive a British Rowing Diploma in Sporting Excellence, having been selected as one of 36 candidates from a pool of 140 applicants.

After four years of competitive rowing, I have been selected to join the Beach Sprint Rowing Academy in South Shields, making the journey up to three times a week, developing performance at World level. This Olympic sport is set to debut at the 2028 LA Olympics blending running and rowing.

I am pleased to announce that I have been selected as a reserve for the U19 England Beach Sprint Team, which will be competing in Ireland, with the potential for further international competition at the Commonwealth level in Bridgetown, Barbados. Additionally, I am pleased to share that I have recently been selected to join the U19 Great Britain team, participating in the World Championships taking place in Turkey later this year.

However, both opportunities come with significant financial demands, and I am currently seeking funding to support my participation. While British Rowing provides some financial support, athletes still face significant expenses related to equipment, travel, and accommodation. By contributing to my funding, you will play an essential role in supporting my participation within the England and GB team.

My journey in Rowing has been a transformative experience. From the initial stages of training, I dedicate countless hours to honing my skills, pushing my physical and mental limits. Each competition has not only tested my abilities but also provided invaluable lessons in resilience and teamwork. As I progress, the thrill of representing my country has fueled my passion, motivating me to strive for excellence and embrace the challenges that come with high level competition.
