I'm helping a dear friend with this fundraiser. Ted Whitcomb, is losing a long battle with cancer. For those who know Ted, they recognize his loud laughter, big smile, and love for family and friends. Although he has not been well for a long time now, you would never hear him complain or share how he was really feeling. But I did find a posting from Ted that revealed how his battle with cancer started 10 years ago.
It started back in May of 2013 I felt a stabbing feeling in my hip. My family Dr. was baffled settling on a torn abdominal muscle that needed 9 months to heal. That misdiagnosis led to my cancer being left untreated for 9 months. An MRI revealed I had cancer. A blood test showed I had multiple myeloma, a cancer that attacks the kidneys and bones. It ate up part of my lower spine. I do what I can to function living in pain and getting constant treatment.
I can no longer work. The doctors say I will live a tough life, but that's ok. I love and enjoy my four kids and eight grand kids immensely. My wife has been great in caring for me, but I have no income source to pay for my escalating medical bills. Despite my physical and financial challenges, I am blessed with the support of my family. My friends know when I'm around when they hear my loud laughter and I greet them with a big smile.
Thanks for your help!
