Professional Tennis Journey

Hi All!

My name is Julia Ronney and I am fundraising for my journey as a professional tennis player.

So far:

->I started playing tennis at 3 years old

->Began playing USTA jr tournaments at 7 years old

->Played 5 years of NCAA division 1 college tennis

->Played 3 months of professional tennis this summer, picking up 2 WTA points, an ITF ranking of 700, and a WTA doubles ranking.

Now:

->I am training everyday in off season to start the 2024 season off strong.

->Raising money to help me continue turning my dream into a reality.

Tennis is unlike most sports because it is all self funded until you can find sponsors. Most sports have contracts, salaries, and cover travel/food/lodging costs so that the athletes don’t have to worry about their livelihood.

Professional tennis players pay for everything: rackets, clothing, on and off court training/coaching, physio’s, tournament entry fees, travel to tournaments (flights, car rentals, rides to/from the tournament site), lodging at the tournaments, meals, stringing, medical needs, and anything else necessary to compete at the highest level.

Out of the thousands of aspiring professional tennis players, only the top 50-100 players in the world are making money and the top 100-300 players are maybe breaking even. Most players ranked outside the top 300-400 in the world are losing money playing professional tennis (and doing so successfully). That is the harsh reality of this sport.

I have worked part time jobs, coached tennis, served in restaurants, been a personal trainer, and done everything I can to support myself financially in this journey.

I have so much love for this sport and will continue to chase a fuzzy yellow ball as long as I can, but now I am asking for your help. I would be incredibly grateful for any help you can provide, financial, sponsorship, or otherwise!

All money fundraised will go to travel costs, tournament entry fees, stringing etc!
