My Ivy-Rose

Hi, my name is Lisa Jones and I am the proud Auntie of Ivy-Rose (aged 2). Those privileged to have met Ivy would agree that she is the most beautiful, loving, and intelligent little girl who never fails to touch the hearts of everyone she meets.

Unfortunately, our whole world was shattered with devastating news following a trip to Accident and Emergency Department on Friday. We all believed Ivy to be suffering from a routine ear infection as she was having issues with her balance (she had no other symptoms).

However, doctors at the department decided to send Ivy for a CT scan as a precautionary measure. Following the results we were called into a private room and the verdict was delivered that the imaging showed a large mass (tumor) in the lower part of Ivy’s brain (cerebellum). This was obstructing her ability to release cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) which was ultimately placing pressure on her main brainstem. Her condition became life-threatening and within 60 minutes of arriving at Arrowe Park Hospital, we were heading on blue lights and sirens to Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

Waiting for us we’re a team of Neurosurgeons who took Ivy straight to theatre, they created a temporary pathway for her CSF fluid to escape which succeeded in releasing the unwanted pressure. A more detailed image (MRI) of the tumor was undertaken to establish what treatment options were available. This is when we learnt that Ivy had a Medulloblastoma (cancerous brain tumor) that would require prompt surgical removal and near future chemo and radiotherapy.

Ivy will be required to stay in hospital for the foreseeable future and until she is stable enough to return home. My sister Leanne has not left the hospital grounds since her original visit over a week ago and has not been able to see her two girls at home.

As Ivy is poorly, requiring one to one monitoring and interventions it would not be appropriate for the girls to visit her at the hospital, this is causing a lot of unwanted stress for my sister. I am appealing to all strangers, family and friends to help me raise the funds possible to purchase a small car, so that my sister can travel to and from hospital to see her children and to support her in getting to and from hospital appointments for Ivy’s treatment.

I know this a very big ask and I would not wish for anyone to help who are facing financial hardship, however if you could spare anything towards this fund and relieve a small bit of stress from my family at this time then I would really appreciate it.

if you have read to this point then I thank you for your time and support, any funds that exceed our intended target will be used to spoil and create memories with our princess as soon as she is well enough to do so, let’s do what our community does best LETS MAKE THIS HAPPEN !!
