Hi, my names Alex and here’s my story about my dream of competing at the Ironman world championship…

As a 14-year-old girl, I first learned about the Ironman race (a triathlon consisting of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike followed by a 26.2 mile run!) and set myself on a pursuit to one day race there among the fastest women on the planet. So I bought a bike, took some swimming lessons, and got some trainers—and off I went. I came in last in my first-ever triathlon, but that didn't stop me. The only way was up, right? My dad, who achieved his own goal of becoming an Ironman, along with my mum and partner, are my biggest supporters and have inspired me every step of the way.

This race is the culmination of 13 years of hard work. I'm not the most naturally talented person; I didn't start young and don't have an athletic background. I got here through sheer determination and consistency, and if I can do it, anybody can. As a mum of two with a job and university, balancing it all has been a challenge, but I hope this journey inspires my own children to work toward their goals and believe they can achieve anything they set their minds to.

Fast forward to now and I have the incredible opportunity to compete at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii this October (me!? I’m just Harry and pixies mummy!) and it’s here that I'll be racing on the biggest stage against the fastest and fittest women, in some of the harshest conditions on Earth. The costs of travel, accommodation, and race-day essentials are significant, and I'm reaching out for support to help make this dream a reality.
