My Husband is a WARRIOR
Donation protected
Marty & I were married in September 2018 ready to spend OUR forever together. In December 2018 he wasn't feeling well. Made him a Dr. appointment and they treated him but was not helping. They sent him to a specialist his treatment did not help. The Dr. decided to do a biopsy. On April 16, 2019 our world was turned upside down with an experience we never signed up for. It came back as cancer. April 18, 2019 in for another biopsy and couple hours later Dr. came in the room with a diagnoses of stage 4 rectal cancer with metastasis to the lymphnodes in the groin area.
We both had to quit our jobs to go with the treatments that were suggested. Me because I was not going to let him fight this alone. Having quit our jobs it left Marty on Cobra Insurance.
Marty started chemo and radiation in June 2019. He finished those treatments with no results. So we went to a bigger hospital. There he did another round of chemo and finished in December 2019. The treatment stopped the lymphnode disease but did nothing for the rectal tumor. He had surgery February 2020. They removed the rectum and 7 lymph nodes which left him with a colostomy bag the rest of his life. They also removed 11 in the groin area. Drs. were confident they removed it all. From there he would have CT Scans every three months with NED results for almost 12 months.
In December 2020 he started to get shooting pains again and had a scan with no results so they did a biopsy and it had come back. Drs. thought they could get rid of it with 5 high dose radiation treatments. It did nothing.
March 2021 I took him to the ER because he could not urinate and they did emergency surgery and found a large tumor had seeded in his bladder blocking his kidneys. They removed tumor placed stints and started him on two different kinds of chemo. After the first scan they said it was unclear if it was helping but Marty was still in pain. They changed to 2 other chemo. He was not able to do the last 2 treatments. He was too sick. So they have him on a break now. The last 2 scans they did said they were unclear. Our question to them was then what are you treating?
Marty and I discussed his options and feel we need to get a 2nd opinion, but we need help. We have been blessed by so many people through this horrific journey. Whether it was praying for us, dinners, groceries, or money to help with medical insurance, co-pays, and house bills. We could not ask for better family, friends, or people we have never met.
We have an appointment October 27,2021 to travel 542 miles to CANCER CENTERS OF AMERICA in Illinois. The evaluation will be 5 days for OUR 2nd opinion.
I'm here to ask all to PRAY for US and the Drs. that will be involved that they can come up with plan that will give Marty a better quality of life.
Our expenses will consist of gas, hotel rooms, food, deductibles, co-pays, and house bills because they don't stop just because we leave.
I have been his full-time caregiver from day one. I'm trying everything I know to do to get MARTY a better quality of life.
If you are able to help with donations we would be so humble! Even if you are unable PLEASE keep us in your PRAYERS and SHARE THIS WITH EVERYONE YOU CAN.
THANK YOU,
