Hello and welcome to the official GoFundMe Campaign for ‘My Hundreds of Brothers and Sisters’, we are so happy that you have found our page! My Hundreds of Brothers and Sisters is a 7-10 minute long documentary following the children who went to the State Department of Education located in Krzeszowice. It was an orphanage/educational facility that was created in 1946 to help the children effected by war trauma and other personal issues.
We are so lucky to have Malgorzata Michel, an associate professor at Jagiellonian University in Krakow and expert on the subject, teaching us so much about the Palace and why it was so beneficial to the children who went there. In the documentary we will interview her to give the audience all of the historical context of the film and why the Orphanage was so important. Malgorzata has also written a book about the Palace and the children called, 'Pałacowe Dzieci' which translates to Palace Children.
As a crew we are all so honoured to be able to tell the real life stories of the Children who lived and studied at the orphanage over 70 years ago. We are possibly the last people who will get to hear these amazing stories and so we have an extra amount of motivation to recount them in the best possible way. We believe these stories should be heard far and wide by audiences and we hope to give those audiences an emotional, raw, heartwarming documentary that they will remember. As well as this, our Director, Adele, has her own personal motivations for making this documentary as her Grandmother lived at Potocki Palace when it was an orphanage. Being able to take her Grandmother back and also listen and tell the stories of the other students who went there too is a huge privilege. Our aim is to hopefully (if COVID allows us!) reunite some of the ex students at the orphanage where they grew up and made so many wonderful memories.
This is why we need your help to raise enough money so that we can go and make this film the best that it can be. The documentary will be filmed in Poland which means that we will need to get all of the crew and the equipment over there which can be quite costly. In order for us to make a beautiful documentary we will need all of the best equipment including cameras, lighting, all of the sound equipment and all of the various accessories that come with these kits. Some of these items are very heavy meaning that luggage costs are going to be very expensive. With Poland being quite dark in February we really feel like we need everything with us to get the best possible result. To get our equipment to locations we will also like to hire a car as taking public transport with it will be difficult as there is only 7 of us in a crew. We also don't want to risk damaging any of it! Insurance in itself is going to be expensive, plus we may also need an ATA Carnet (which usually cost around £300) by the time we go as we will have left the EU.
Any donations are hugely appreciated, we promise every little really does help! You will be helping us to not only tell the stories of people whose lives were changed for the better in an orphanage 70 years ago but you will also be helping us! This is our final year film that will get us to graduation! We really need your help so that we can make this documentary as beautiful as we envision it to be. Even if you can't donate (we understand that times are hard right now!) liking and sharing our pages in particular sharing this campaign as far as you can is a massive help to us and we would appreciate it so much! Just getting the word spread about our short documentary is a huge thing for us and if you can help us with that we will be so grateful. There will of course be a number of exclusive competitions, perks and prizes for people who share and donate including personalised Q&As with crew and personalised pictures and postcards along with many more to be announced soon. There will also be bigger perks and prizes that will be announced soon on our website and social media platforms so keep an eye out for those!
Thank you so much in advance and stay safe during these times!
