Help Kate access life-saving targeted therapy for recurrent osteosarcoma that got her paralysed.

My name is Kate I’m 25 years old and for the past year and a half I’m fighting chondroblastic osteosarcoma - a rare and aggressive bone cancer.
Some of you might remember me from my previous fundraiser and unfortunately here I am again asking for your help.

During this period of time I’ve undergone 4 surgeries, 6 cycles of very intense chemotherapy (MAP) and still the cancer has returned. Since it’s my neck (C7 level) this time it left me unable to walk and I can barely use my hands.

After my latest surgery, genetic testing identified a PIK3CA mutation in my tumor. This opened the possibility of a targeted treatment called Inavolisib - a therapy specifically aimed at this mutation.
For the first time, my doctors have a treatment that targets the biology of my cancer rather than relying only on standard chemotherapy.

This new drug is broadly and successfully used in the past few years in treating different cancers with the same mutation. Since sarcoma is a rare type of cancer there’s no research on using Inavolisib on osteosarcoma.

So in my case it is what they call “off-label use” and that’s exactly why nor insurance, nor manufacturer want to pay for it.
The treatment costs approximately €16,000 per month, far beyond anything my family and I can afford.

Every donation, no matter how small, brings me one step closer to continuing the only targeted treatment currently available for my cancer.

Even if you cannot donate, sharing my story could reach someone who can.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

Your kindness gives me something cancer has tried to take away: hope.
